On its 10th year, Global Mala Project Manila will reunite the yoga community for a day full of yoga practice, music, dance, food and meditation. Every year, yoga practitioners, teachers, volunteers and curious individuals participate in this project to promote peace and awareness of global issues we face today.

Global Mala will start with an opening ceremony of 108 Sun Salutations on October 1 to share the gift of yoga. Similar to previous events, there will be two rooms, Solar and Lunar rooms as separate venues for classes on yoga, capoeira, poi and drum jam, among others.

“For this year’s power yoga class, Global Mala attendees can expect a strong flow that incorporates standing balances, arm balances and inversions. The sequence is meant to build a strong foundation for the physical body, energizing the legs and waking up the core to prepare them for the day ahead” said Benedict Bernabe, a yoga teacher who will lead this year’s power yoga.

The event will be offering three classes for kids in the afternoon led by Rainbow Children Manila and Bubbles Paraiso. Children aged 10 and below are free of charge and must be accompanied by an adult.

The event will also be introducing The Mindful Market, a green pop-up space that will provide organic, natural and sustainable products and services. The event is going to be an excellent avenue for individuals who would want to transition to conscious consumption and zero-waste lifestyle.

“For our 10th year, we are celebrating with the launch of The Mindful Market and line up of speakers curated by SheTalksAsia,” said Global Mala Manila founder Teresa Herrera-Anthony.

She Talks Asia is a movement that celebrates modern women which will host a series of talks on health and wellness, sustainability and mindful living at the event in October.

Global Mala will allocate a portion of its proceeds to the World Wild Fund (WWF), a global conservation organization.

Instead of coinciding with the United Nations International Day of Peace, Global Mala will happen on 1 October 2017 from 8am to 10 pm at the Blue Leaf Pavillion, McKinley Hill to commemorate its 10th anniversary. Tickets are available at Php 750 (full day access) and Php 350 (limited access to The Mindful Market and Talks) and can be purchased through Pouch Nation.
